Eric B. and Rakim are a legendary hip-hop duo that gained prominence in the late 1980s. The duo consists of Eric Barrier, known as Eric B., and William Michael Griffin Jr., known as Rakim. They are widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative duos in the history of hip-hop.

Eric B. served as the DJ and producer, while Rakim was the lyricist and rapper. Rakim is often hailed for his smooth flow, complex lyrics, and his pioneering use of internal rhymes and multisyllabic rhyming patterns. Eric B.'s production skills, characterized by his use of soulful samples and strong beats, complemented Rakim's lyrical prowess.

Their debut album, "Paid in Full" (1987), is considered a classic in hip-hop history. The title track, "Paid in Full," is particularly notable for its innovative use of samples and Rakim's distinctive lyrical style. Other well-known tracks from the album include "I Ain't No Joke" and "My Melody."

Eric B. and Rakim continued to release successful albums, including "Follow the Leader" (1988) and "Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em" (1990). Their impact on the genre is significant, and Rakim is often cited as one of the greatest MCs (Master of Ceremonies) in the history of hip-hop. Despite their relatively short time together as a duo, Eric B. and Rakim left an enduring legacy, and their influence can be heard in the work of many subsequent hip-hop artists.
